Just before the closing of Bold Disobedience, we had the opportunity to host a workshop with Loyola Academy’s Art as Advocacy class. After their visit the students created their own artwork based on their experience at the gallery. We are truly impressed with their thoughtful responses!
If you have are an educator looking to bring your students in for a free workshop at Weinberg/Newton Gallery, feel free to reach out to us!
Thanks to Henderson Elementary School for bringing by their Student Voices summer classroom to talk about the This Heat exhibition. Educational leader from the Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence, Dion McGill facilitated an engaging conversation with 20 4th-8th graders from Ms Ware’s class. They discussed issues surrounding their neighborhoods, school and their feelings about how they can prevent gun violence as the next generation of leaders. Here are some images our workshop on Wednesday, along with some post-it notes responding to the artwork in This Heat. You guys rock!
