Our community partnerships are sustained relationships aimed at providing local nonprofit organizations with engaging educational programs and opportunities that connect art and social justice.
The WNG Teen Collective is a six-month program that brings together Chicago teens (ages 14-19 years old).
Teens meet weekly to learn about and explore art and social justice, build community, grow their leadership and collaboration skills, connect with artists and activists, develop digital art skills, design public programs, and create new ways for the greater Chicago community to experience the programs at Weinberg/Newton Gallery.
Weekly sessions include group discussions, hands-on art making activities, visits with professional artists/activists, and time to work on personal and collaborative projects.
WNG Teen Collective members receive a stipend for their participation.
In the summer of 2020, we partnered with Noble Charter Schools and Mercy Housing Lakefront to distribute free hands-on art making kits to youth and their families. The art making activities included button, patch, plushy, and stencil design.
